Rush - Moving Pictures

Τι να προαναφέρει κανείς για αυτόν τον δίσκο;

Ότι ήταν τόσο πετυχημένος που έγινε πολυπλατινένιος;, Ότι έφτασε μέχρι το #3 του Billboard; Ότι τα μισά τραγούδια του δίσκου ακούγονται σε κάθε τους συναυλία;....Το ότι εδώ περιέχει το τραγούδι σήμα-κατατεθέν του συγκροτήματος;;; -έλα μην κάνεις τον ανήξερο..ξέρεις πολύ καλά για ποιο αναφέρομαι- (που ανοίγει σχεδόν πάντα με αυτό το τραγούδι  τις συναυλίες τους και απο κάτω γίνεται Ο πανικός;) Το ότι το Kerrang! το έχει κατατάξει στο #43 απο τα 100 καλύτερα άλμπουμ στην ιστορία του Heavy Metal;(έει εκεί στο Kerrang!...τι πίνετε και δεν μας δίνετε; Heavy Metal το Progressive rock -μπες εδω να παθεις και να μαθεις-; τι να σου πω...στο Limelight κοπανιέσαι σαν τον τρελό...), Στο ότι βρίσκεται μέσα στο -κατα την ταπεινή μου γνώμη αμφιλεγόμενο, αλλά κατα τα άλλα - άκρως ενδιαφέρον βιβλίο "Οι 1001 δίσκοι που πρέπει να ακούσεις πριν πεθάνεις"; -και καλα..- και τέλος ότι το περιοδικό Rolling Stones το έχει μέσα στα 10 καλύτερα progressive rock -μπες εδώ να μάθεις και να πάθεις (2)- άλμπουμ;..ουφ...πολλά δεν είπα;;;

1. Tom Sawyer
2. Red Barchetta
3. YYZ
4. Limelight
5. The Camera Eye
6. Witch Hunt
7. Vital Signs

Να αναφέρω και τους παιχταράδες;

Αγαπημένα;;

1. Tom Sawyer

A modern day warrior
Mean, mean stride
Today's Tom Sawyer
Mean, mean pride

Though his mind is not for rent
Don't put him down as arrogant
His reserve, a quiet defense
Riding out the day's events
The river

What you say about his company
Is what you say about society
Catch the mist, catch the myth
Catch the mystery, catch the drift

The world is, the world is
Love and life are deep
Maybe as his skies are wide

Today's Tom Sawyer
He gets high on you
And the space he invades
He gets by on you

No, his mind is not for rent
To any god or government
Always hopeful, yet discontent
He knows changes aren't permanent
But change is

What you say about his company
Is what you say about society
Catch the witness, catch the wit
Catch the spirit, catch the spit

The world is the world is
Love and life are deep
Maybe as his eyes are wide

Exit the warrior
Today's Tom Sawyer
He gets high on you
And the energy you trade
He gets right on to
The friction of the day

2. Red Barchetta

My uncle has a country place
That no one knows about.
He says it used to be a farm,
Before the Motor Law.
And on Sundays I elude the Eyes,
And hop the Turbine Freight
To far outside the Wire,
Where my white-haired uncle waits.

Jump to the ground
As the Turbo slows to cross the Borderline.
Run like the wind,
As excitement shivers up and down my spine.
Down in his barn,
My uncle preserved for me an old machine,
For fifty-odd years.
To keep it as new has been his dearest dream.

I strip away the old debris
That hides a shining car.
A brilliant red Barchetta
From a better, vanished time.
I fire up the willing engine,
Responding with a roar.
Tires spitting gravel,
I commit my weekly crime...

Wind-
In my hair-
Shifting and drifting-
Mechanical music-
Adrenalin surge...

Well-weathered leather,
Hot metal and oil,
The scented country air.
Sunlight on chrome,
The blur of the landscape,
Every nerve aware.

Suddenly ahead of me,
Across the mountainside,
A gleaming alloy air-car
Shoots towards me, two lanes wide.
I spin around with shrieking tires,
To run the deadly race,
Go screaming through the valley
As another joins the chase.

Drive like the wind,
Straining the limits of machine and man.
Laughing out loud
With fear and hope, I've got a desperate plan.
At the one-lane bridge
I leave the giants stranded at the riverside.
Race back to the farm, to dream with my uncle at the fireside

3. YYZ

4. Limelight

Living on a lighted stage
Approaches the unreal
For those who think and feel
In touch with some reality
Beyond the gilded cage

Cast in this unlikely role,
Ill-equipped to act
With insufficient tact
One must put up barriers
To keep oneself intact

Living in the limelight
The universal dream
For those who wish to seem

Those who wish to be
Must put aside the alienation
Get on with the fascination
The real relation
The underlying theme

Living in a fish eye lens
Caught in the camera eye
I have no heart to lie
I can't pretend a stranger
Is a long-awaited friend

All the world's indeed a stage
And we are merely players
Performers and portrayer
Each another's audience
Outside the gilded cage

5. The Camera Eye

Grim-faced and forbidding,
Their faces closed tight,
An angular mass of New Yorkers
Pacing in rhythm,
Race the oncoming night,
They chase through the streets of Manhattan.
Headfirst humanity,
Pause at a light,
Then flow through the streets of the city.

They seem oblivious
To a soft spring rain,
Like an English rain
So light, yet endless
From a leaden sky.

The buildings are lost in the limitless rise.
My feet catch the pulse and the purposeful stride.

I feel the sense of possibilities,
I feel the wrench of hard realities.
The focus is sharp in the city.

Wide-angle watcher
On life's ancient tales,
Steeped in the history of London.

Green and grey washes
In a wispy white veil
Mist in the streets of Westminster.
Wistful and weathered,
The pride still prevails,
Alive in the streets of the city.

Are they oblivious
To this quality?
A quality
Of light unique to
Every city's streets.

Pavements may teem with intense energy,
But the city is calm in this violent sea.

6. Witch Hunt

The night is black, without a moon.
The air is thick and still.
The vigilantes gather on
The lonely torchlit hill.

Features distorted in the flickering light,
Faces are twisted and grotesque.
Silent and stern in the sweltering night,
The mob moves like demons possesed.
Quiet in conscience, calm in their right,
Confident their ways are best.

The righteous rise
With burning eyes
Of hatred and ill-will.
Madmen fed on fear and lies
To beat and burn and kill.

They say there are strangers who threaten us,
Our immigrants and infidels.
They say there is strangeness to danger us
In our theatres and bookstore shelves,
That those who know what's best for us
Must rise and save us from ourselves.

Quick to judge,
Quick to anger,
Slow to understand
Ignorance and prejudice
And fear walk hand in hand.

 7. Vital Signs

Unstable condition,
A symptom of life,
Of mental and environmental change.
Atmosphereic disturbance,
The feverish flux
Of human interface and interchange.

The impulse is pure;
Sometimes our circuits get shorted
By external interference.
Signals get crossed
And the balance distorted
By internal incoherence.

A tired mind become a shape shifter,
Everybody need a mood lifter,
Everybody need reverse polarity.
Everybody got mixed feelings
About the function and the form.
Everybody got to elevate from the norm.

An ounce of perception,
A pound of obscure.
Process information at half speed.
Pause, rewind, replay,
Warm memory chip,
Random sample, hold the one you need.

Leave out the fiction,
The fact is, this friction
Will only be won by persistence.
Leave out conditions,
Courageous convictions
Will drag the dream into existence.

A tired mind become a shape shifter,
Everybody need a soft filter,
Everybody need reverse polarity.
Everybody got mixed feelings
About the function and the form.
Everybody got to elevate from the norm...

Jethro Tull - Songs From The Woods

Ο δίσκος με το άνοιγμά του, με τις πρώτες νότες του, σε βάζει αμέσως σε άλλο κλίμα, σε μια άλλη εποχή...κάπως μεσαιωνική...αν και πάλι με την επίσημη ιστοσελίδα τους οι μοναδικές, μεσαιωνικής ηχητικής εποχής, δουλειές τους είναι τα War Child -1974- και Minstrel In The Gallery -1975- το Songs From The Woods κατατάσσεται σαν Folk album ...

Με το Songs From The Woods "λέγεται" ότι ξεκίνησε μια τριλογία με Folk albums μαζί με τα Heavy Horses και Stormwatch...-για το τελευταίο δεν θα έπαιρνα και όρκο...-

Το Songs From The Woods : Ρ -

Αξιοσημείωτα γεγονότα για τον δίσκο είναι πως στο Jack On The Green ο Ian Anderson παίζει ΟΛΑ τα όργανα...(μόνος του : ) ...

1. Songs From The Woods
2. Jack-in-the-Green
3. Cup of Wonder
4. Hunting Girl
5. Ring Out, Solstice Bells
6. Velvet Green
7. The Whistler
8. Pibroch (Cap in Hand)
9. Fire at Midnight

Ian Anderson - Φωνή, φλάουτο, μαντολίνο, ακουστική κιθάρα...και τα πάντα στο Jack In The Green

Ολόκληρος ο δίσκος...αλλά να πω την αμαρτία μου ξεχωρίζω...λιιιιιιγο τα Songs From The Woods, Hunting Girl, The Whistler, και Fire At Midnight

Για όσους δεν το έχουν με την Folk-Rock τους προτείνω να δοκιμάσουν το Songs From The Woods με κάποιο βαθμό δυσκολίας, αλλά άνετα το Jack In The Green

1. Songs From The Woods

Let me bring you songs from the wood:
To make you feel much better than you could know.
Dust you down from tip to toe.
Show you how the garden grows.

Hold you steady as you go.
Join the chorus if you can:
It'll make of you an honest man.
Let me bring you love from the field:

Poppies red and roses filled with summer rain.
To heal the wound and still the pain,
That threatens again and again,
As you drag down every lover's lane.

Life's long celebration's here.
I'll toast you all in penny cheer.
Let me bring you all things refined:
Galliards and lute songs served in chilling ale.

Greetings well met fellow, hail!
I am the wind to fill your sail.
I am the cross to take your nail:
A singer of these ageless times,

With kitchen prose and gutter rhymes.
Songs from the wood make you feel much better.

2. Jack-in-the-Green

Have you seen Jack-in-the-Green?
With his long tail hanging down.

He sits quietly under every tree
In the folds of his velvet gown.
He drinks from the empty acorn cup.
The dew that dawn sweetly bestows.
And taps his cane upon the ground -
Signals the snow drops, it's time to grow

It's no fun being Jack-in-the-Green:
No place to dance, no time for song.
He wears the colours of the summer soldier;
And carries the green flag all the winter long.

Jack do you never sleep - does the green still run deep in your heart?
Or will these changing times, motorways, powerlines, keep us apart?
Well, I don't think so.
I saw some grass growing through the pavements today.

The Rowan, the Oak and the Holly tree
Are the charges left for him to groom.

Each blade of grass whispers, "Jack-in-the-Green."
"Oh Jack, please help me through my winter's night."
And - "We are the berries on the Holly tree:
Oh, the Mistle Thrush is coming. Jack, put out the light!"

3. Cup of Wonder

May I make my fond excuses for the lateness of the hour,
but we accept your invitation, and we bring you Beltane's flower.
For the May Day is the great day, sung along the old straight track.
And those who ancient lines did lay will heed the song that calls them back.
Pass the word and pass the lady, pass the plate to all who hunger.
Pass the wit of ancient wisdom, pass the cup of crimson wonder.
Ask the green man where he comes from, ask the cup that fills with red.
Ask the old grey standing stones that show the sun its way to bed.
Question all as to their ways, and learn the secrets that they hold.
Walk the lines of nature's palm crossed with silver and with gold.
Pass the cup and pass the lady, pass the plate to all who hunger.
Pass the wit of ancient wisdom, pass the cup of crimson wonder.
Join in black December's sadness, lie in August's welcome corn.
Stir the cup that's ever-filling with the blood of all that's born.
But the May Day is the great day, sung along the old straight track.
And those who ancient lines did lay will heed this song that calls them back.
Pass the word and pass the lady, pass the plate to all who hunger.
Pass the wit of ancient wisdom, pass the cup of crimson wonder.

4. Hunting Girl

One day I walked the road and crossed a field to go by where the hounds ran hard.
And on the master raced: behind the hunters chased to where the path was barred.
One fine young lady's horse refused the fence to clear.
I unlocked the gate but she did wait until the pack had disappeared.

Crop handle carved in bone; sat high upon a throne of finest English leather.
The queen of all the pack, this joker raised his hat and talked about the weather.
All should be warned about this high born Hunting Girl.
She took this simple man's downfall in hand; I raised the flag that she unfurled.
Boot leather flashing and spurnecks the size of my thumb.
This highborn hunter had tastes as strange as they come.
Unbridled passion: I took the bit in my teeth.
Her standing over me on my knees underneath.

My lady, be discreet. I must get to my feet and go back to the farm.
Whilst I appreciate you are no deviate, I might come to some harm.
I'm not inclined to acts refined, if that's how it goes.
Oh, high born Hunting Girl, I'm just a normal low born so and so.

5. Ring Out, Solstice Bells

Now is the solstice of the year.
Winter is the glad song that you hear.
Seven maids move in seven time.
Have the lads up ready in a line.

Ring out these bells.
Ring out, ring solstice bells.
Ring solstice bells.

Join together 'neath the mistletoe,
By the holy oak whereon it grows.
Seven druids dance in seven time.
Sing the song the bells call, loudly chiming.

Ring out these bells.
Ring out, ring solstice bells.
Ring solstice bells.

Praise be to the distant sister sun,
Joyful as the silver planets run.
Seven maids move in seven time.
Sing the song the bells call, loudly chiming.

Ring out these bells.
Ring out, ring solstice bells.
Ring solstice bells.
Ring on, ring out.
Ring on, ring out.

6. Velvet Green

7.  The Whistler

I'll buy you six bay mares to put in your stable
Six golden apples bought with my pay.
I am the first piper who calls the sweet tune,
But I must be gone by the seventh day.

So come on, I'm the whistler.
I have a fife and a drum to play.
Get ready for the whistler.
I whistle along on the seventh day
Whistle along on the seventh day.

All kinds of sadness I've left behind me.
Many's the day when I have done wrong.
But I'll be yours for ever and ever.
Climb in the saddle and whistle along.

So come on, I'm the whistler.
I have a fife and a drum to play.
Get ready for the whistler.
I whistle along on the seventh day
Whistle along on the seventh day.

Deep red are the sun-sets in mystical places.
Black are the nights on summer-day sands.
We'll find the speck of truth in each riddle.
Hold the first grain of love in our hands.

8. Pibroch (Cap in Hand)

There's a light in the house in the wood in the valley.
There's a thought in the head of the man.
Who carries his dreams like the coat slung on his shoulder,
Bringing you love in the cap in his hand.
And each step he takes is one half of a lifetime:
no word he would say could you understand.
So he bundles his regrets into a gesture of sorrow,
Bringing you love cap in hand.
Catching breath as he looks through the dining-room window:
candle lit table for two has been laid.
Strange slippers by the fire.
Strange boots in the hallway.
Put my cap on my head.
I turn and walk away.

9. Fire at Midnight

I believe in fires at midnight
When the dogs have all been fed.
A golden toddy on the mantle
A broken gun beneath the bed.
Silken mist outside the window.
Frogs and newts slip in the dark
Too much hurry ruins the body.
I'll sit easy, fan the spark
Kindled by the dying embers
Of another working day.
Go upstairs, take off your makeup
Fold your clothes neatly away.
Me, I'll sit and write this love song
As I all too seldom do
Build a little fire this midnight.
It's good to be back home with you.

Iron Maiden - Killers

Δεν υπάρχει κάποια ιστορία πίσω απο την δημιουργία του δίσκου, παρα μόνο το  ότι το Murders In The Rue Morgue είναι βασισμένο στο ομώνυμο βιβλίο του Edgar Allan Poe...-εδώ ξεκινά μια άλλη παράδοση-

Το Tracklist είναι το εξής:

1. The Ides of March
2. Wrathchild
3. Murders in the Rue Morgue
4. Another Life
5. Genghis Khan
6. Innocent Exile
7. Killers
8. Prodigal Son
9. Purgatory
10. Drifter

1.  The Ides of March

2. Wrathchild

I was born into a scene of angriness and greed, and dominance and persecution.
My mother was a queen, my dad I've never seen, I was never meant to be.
And now I spend my time looking all around,
For a man that's nowhere to be found.
Until I find him I'm never gonna stop searching,
I'm gonna find my man, gonna travel around.

'Cause I'm a wrathchild, well I'm a wrathchild.
Yeah I'm a wrathchild. I'm coming to get you, oooh yeah.

Say it doesn't matter ain't nothin' gonna alter the course of my destination.
I know I've got to find some serious piece of mind, or I know I'll go crazy.
But now I spend my time looking all around,
For a man that's nowhere to be found.
Until I find him I'm never gonna stop searching,
I'm gonna find my man, gonna travel around.

3. Murders in the Rue Morgue

I remember it as a pain day althought it happened in the dark ofthe night
I was strolling throught the streets of Paris
And it was cold it was starting to rain
And then I heard a piercing scream and I rushed to the scene ofthe crime
But all I found was butchered remains of two girls lay side byside
Murders in the Rue Morgue
Someone call the Gendarmes
Murders in the Rue Morgue
Run before the killers go free
There's some people coming down the street
At last there's someone heard my call
I can't understand why they're pointing at me
I never done nothing at all
But I must have got some blood on my hands
Because everybody's shouting at me
I can't speak French so I couldn't explain
And like a fool I started running away
And now I've got to get away from the ares of the law
All France is looking for me
I've gotta find my way across the border for sure
Down south to Italy
Murders in the Rue Morgue
Running from the Gendarme
Murders in the Rue Morgue
I'm never going home
Well I made it to the front of the block
But I can't wipe the scene from my mind
And the Gendarmes are chasin' me
Well I just started running around
Well I'm moving throught the shadows tonight
Away from the staring eyes
Any day they'll be looking for me
Cause I know that I show the signs of...
Murders in the Rue Morgue
Someone call the Gendarmes
Murders in the Rue Morgue
Runnin' from the ares of the law
It was the law on my trail
I'm running out of places to hide
Should I return to the scene of the crime
When it's you they're looking for
If I could go directly to hell
To get me out of troubles for sure
But I know that it's on my mind
And I've got to say I've done it before
Murders in the Rue Morgue
They've gone from me
Murders in the Rue Morgue
I'm never going home

4. Another Life

As I lay here lying on my bed
Sweet voices come into my head.
Oh what it is, I want to know
Please won't you tell me it's got to go.
There's a feeling that's inside me
Telling me to get away.
But I'm so tired of living
I might as well end today.

As I lay here lying on my bed
Sweet voices come into my head.
Oh what it is, I want to know
Please won't you tell me it's got to go.
There's a feeling that's inside me
Telling me to get away.
But I'm so tired of living
I might as well end today.

As I lay here lying on my bed
Sweet voices come into my head.
Oh what it is, I want to know
Please won't you tell me it's got to go.
There's a feeling that's inside me
Telling me to get away.
But I'm so tired of living
I might as well end today.

5. Genghis Khan

 6. Innocent Exile

My life is so empty, nothing to live for.
My mind is all confusion, 'cause I defied the law.
When you weren't there to help me, I lost my mind and ran.
I never had no trouble before this all began.

My life is so empty, nothing to live for.
My mind is all confusion, 'cause I defied the law.
When you weren't there to help me, I lost my mind and ran.
I never had no trouble before this all began.

I'm running away, no where to go.
I'm lost and tired and I just don't know, yeah,
They say I killed a woman, they know it isn't true.
They're just trying to frame me, and all because of you, yeah

7. Killers

You walk through the subway, his eyes burn a hole in your back,
A footstep behind you, he lunges prepared for attack.
Scream for mercy, he laughs as he's watching you bleed,
Killer behind you, his blood lust defies all his needs.

My innocent victims are slaughtered with wrath and despise,
The mocking religion of hatred that burns in the night.
I have no one, I'm bound to destroy all this greed,
A voice inside me compelling to satisfy me.

I can see what a knife's meant to be,
And you'll never know how I came to foresee, see, see.

My faith in believing is stronger than lifelines and ties,
With the glimmer of metal my moment is ready to strike.

Death call arises, a scream breaks the still of the night,
Another tomorrow, remember to walk in the light!
I have found you, and now there is no place to run,
Excitement shakes me, oh God help me what have I done?!
Oh yeah, I've done it!
Yeah!

You walk through the subway, my eyes burn a hole in your back,
A footstep behind you, he lunges prepared for attack.
Scream for mercy, he laughs as he's watching you bleed,
Killer behind you, my blood lust defies all my needs.
Oh look out, I'm coming for you!

8. Prodigal Son

Listen to me Lamia, listen to what I've got to say.
I've got these feelings, and they won't go away.
I've got these fears inside that'll bring me to my knees.
Oh help me Lamia or I'm sure I'll die, oh please.

I feel unsettled, now I know that I've done wrong.
I've messed around with mystic things and magic for too long.
I feel I'm being paid with this nightmare inside me,
The devil's got a hold on my soul and he just won't let me be.

I'm on my knees, oh help me please.
I'm on my knees, help me please.

Oh Lamia please try to help me.
The devil's got a hold of my soul and he won't let me be.
Lamia I've got this curse, I'm turning to bad.
The devil's got a hold of my soul, and it's driving me mad. Oh

Oh Lamia please try to help me.
The devil's got a hold of my soul and he won't let me be.
Lamia I've got this curse, I'm turning to bad.
The devil's got a hold of my soul, and it's driving me mad. Oh

9. Purgatory

Thinking of an age old dream, places I have never seen,
Fantasies lived times before.
I split my brain, melt through the floor.

Over clouds my mind will fly, forever now I can't think why.
My body tries to leave my soul.
Or is it me, I just don't know.
Memories rising from the past, the future's shadow overcast.
Something's clutching at my head, through the darkness I'll be led.

Oh another time, another place.
Oh another smile on another face.
When you see me floating up beside you,
You get the feeling that all my love's inside of you.

Please take me away, take me away, so far away.
Please take me away, take me away, so far away.
Please take me away, take me away, so far away.

When you see me walking up beside you,
You get the feeling that all my love's inside of you.

Please take me away, take me away, so far away.
Please take me away, take me away, so far away.
Please take me away, take me away, so far away.

Walk away!

Look out now, baby won't you take me away,
Sittin' here its gonna be a new day.
Gotta sing my song and I can't go wrong,
Gotta keep on roaming, gotta sing my song.

What you feeling when you hold me tight?
I'm gonna cuddle up with you tonight, gonna get you feeling so secure.
listen child don't you see there's a cure?
Anywhere got to get you away, feels so good think it's gonna be a new day.
I'm gonna get my song till I can't go on,
I'm gonna keep on roaming gonna sing my song.

I want you to sing it, sing it, sing it, sing it along.
I want you to sing it, sing it, sing it, sing it along.
