"Απίστευτος υπάλληλος στην υπηρεσία της ΔΕΗ στην Πάτρα, έκανε
μετρήσεις ρολογιών από τον καναπέ του, όπως αποκάλυψαν οι σχετικές
έρευνες.
Κριτήριο του ποσού που χρέωνε στον κάθε καταναλωτή ήταν ο
λογαριασμός του προηγούμενου τριμήνου, στο οποίο πάντα πρόσθετε κάτι
επιπλέον. Με εντολή του δημάρχου, ελέγχονται και οι άλλοι 17 υπάλληλοι που είχαν αναλάβει το έργο της υδρομέτρησης. Τα παράπονα καταναλωτών για "φουσκωμένους" λογαριασμούς και ο
έλεγχος που ακολούθησε, αποκάλυψαν πλασματικές καταμετρήσεις σε
εκατοντάδες υδρόμετρα μεγάλου τμήματος της Πάτρας. Υπεύθυνος κρίθηκε από τη διοίκηση ο συγκεκριμένος υπάλληλος,
ο οποίος τέθηκε σε αργία ενός μήνα (το ανώτερο που προβλέπεται) με
εντολή του δημάρχου Γιάννη Δημαρά. "Οι υποψίες μας ξεκίνησαν από τη στιγμή που σε μένα
προσωπικά αλλά και σε άλλα στελέχη του Δήμου γίνονταν καταγγελίες για
φουσκωμένους λογαριασμούς. Μάλιστα, τα παράπονα προέρχονται από ιδιοκτήτες κατοικιών
που βρίσκονταν στους δρόμους ευθύνης του συγκεκριμένου υπαλλήλου"

Πριν απο 21 χρόνια, το 1991, την 1η του Νοέμβρη, οι μέγιστοι Iced Earth κυκλοφόρησαν το Night Of The Stormrider....-ακόμα ένα πολύ αγαπημένο...-
Θυμάμαι που ο φίλος μου ο Ανδρέας είχε πάρει την κασέτα -φρέσκια-φρέσκια- και με κάλεσε σπίτι του να την ακούσουμε.. και μαντέψτε... την "ακούσαμε"...
Τι ήταν αυτό ΘΕΕ μου;;;
Την εποχή εκείνη ήμουν 13 ετών... είχα ακούσει κάτι Kill Em All, Arise, Agent Orange, Seasons In The Abyss κτλ. αλλά αυτό που άκουσα απο το μαγνητόφωνο του Ανδρέα ήταν.............απερίγραπτο....
Πρώτη μου φορά ένιωσα δέος...
Πρώτη μου φορά με συνεπήρε αυτή η μαγεία του Schaffer στα κιθαριστικά μέρη του...
Θυμάμαι κρατούσα τους στίχους στα χέρια μου και ίδρωναν οι παλάμες μου, απο την ιστορία, απο την εξέλιξη...
Ξεδιπλωνόταν ολόκληρη η ιστορία μπροστά μου...
Για όσους δεν γνωρίζουν να σας πω ότι ο δίσκος είναι ο δεύτερος σε κυκλοφορία των Iced Earth και ο πρώτος που καταπιάνεται ολοκληρωτικά με κάποιο θέμα...
Αναφέρεται σε εναν άνδρα ο οποίος νιώθει προδομένος απο την θρησκεία του και καθώς απογοητευμένος και θυμωμένος απομακρύνεται απο αυτή, έρχονται οι σκοτεινές δυνάμεις για να τον χειραγωγήσουν και να τον στρέψουν εναντίον ολόκληρης της ανθρωπότητας. Παίρνει διαταγή να ταξιδέψει στην έρημο και εκεί αφού βλέπει οράματα και του γίνεται μια πλύση εγκεφάλου, γίνεται ο Stormrider, αυτός που θα κυριέψει τον κόσμο. Στο τέλος του πολέμου μεταφέρεται μπροστά στους κριτές της ψυχής του και τον καταδικάζουν αιώνια στα βάθη στης Κολάσεως. Εκεί αντιλαμβάνεται τι έχει κάνει και πως χρησιμοποιήθηκε απο τις σκοτεινές δυνάμεις, κι ενώ μετανιώνει για το τι έκανε γνωρίζει ότι πλέον δεν μπορεί να κάνει απολύτως τίποτα...
Όλη αυτή η ιστορία ντύνεται ιδανικά με την μουσική ιδιοφυΐα του αρχηγού της μπάντας Jon Schaffer...
Κι έτσι μας μένει στα χέρια ένα διαμάντι...

Για τους μη-μυημένους είναι ένα δύσκολο άκουσμα...το μόνο που μπορείτε να ακούσετε είναι το Reaching The End... Οι πιο τολμηροί μπορείτε να ακούσετε τα Angels Holocaust καιStormrider -αυτά πάνε πάντα μαζί- και τέλος το Pure Evil

Πριν από 21 χρόνια -ΘΕΕ ΜΟΥ έχω μεγαλώσει τόσο πολύ!!!- κυκλοφόρησε σαν αύριο -29 Οκτωβρίου- το Parallels των πολύ μεγάλωνFates Warning...
Η παραγωγή του άψογη, οι συνθέσεις του υπέροχες, η φωνή του Alder -με λιγότερη δόση πριμαντόνας- εκπληκτική, τα κιθαριστικά μέρη, σόλο, riffs συναρπαστικά, οι μπασογραμμές μαγευτικές και τα τύμπανα..............μεθυστικά... -Άρε τσόγλανε Mark να είχα την μισή ικανότητά σου...-
Όπως κατάλαβες είναι ενας απο τους αγαπημένους μου δίσκους και έχει επέτειο...

Το "Leave The Past Behind" ανοίγει τον δίσκο με ένα πολύ αισιόδοξο μήνυμα και όπως φαίνεται και απο τον τίτλο αναφέρεται για μια καινούρια αρχή.. πολύ καλό τραγούδι για να ξεκινήσει κανείς την μέρα του...
Με το "Life in Still Water" όμως περνάμε σχεδόν στο αντίθετο μέρος. Ένα τραγούδι που μιλά για το πόσο "νεκρή ζωή" έχεις όταν δεν έχεις πλέον στόχους και έχεις σταματήσει την εξέλιξη του εαυτού σου... -σε αυτό το τραγούδι συμμετέχει φιλικά ο τραγουδιστής των Dream Theater, James LaBrie-
Το "Eye to Eye" δεν μιλάει για το οφθαλμός αντί οφθαλμού, για όποιον βιάζεται να βγάλει συμπέρασμα μόνο και μόνο απο τον τίτλο. Μιλάει για μοναχικές ψυχές που αναζητούν την ζεστασιά στην αγκαλιά κάποιου, αλλά αυτό και μόνο ποτέ δεν αρκεί...Όταν υπάρχει έλλειψη αγάπης -λέω εγώ- δεν υπάρχει τίποτα...
Το "The Eleventh Hour" μιλά για την ματαιότητα των πραγμάτων, ειδικά όταν έρχεται και το πλήρωμα του χρόνου...
Το "Point of View" μας επισημάνει πως μπορεί η απόψεις μας να μας χωρίσουν, να μας αποξενώσουν. Ένα τόσο απλό πράγμα, να μπορεί να φέρει την διχόνοια!
Το "We Only Say Goodbye" αναφέρεται στις ανεκπλήρωτες αγάπες...
Το "Don't Follow Me" σε όλους αυτούς που δεν παιδεύονται στην ζωή τους να μάθουν τον διπλανό τους, είτε είναι φίλος τους είτε είναι το ταίρι τους, αλλά και τον ίδιο τους τον εαυτό...
Και τέλος το "The Road Goes on Forever" αν και μιλάει για μια προσπάθεια συνεχή, για να φτάσει κάπου, και πόσο επίπονη προσπάθεια είναι αυτή....δεν εχω καταλάβει σε ποιο ακριβώς θέμα αναφέρεται...
Όπως και να έχει αυτός είναι ο αγαπημένος μου δίσκος των Fates Warning και λυπάμαι πάρα πολύ που δεν τους είδα σε κάποια συναυλία... ελπίζω να μου δοθεί η ευκαιρία στο μέλλον να επανορθώσω..
